Well, well, it looks like another year has opened its doors to us and patiently awaits as we dream, scheme and hustle to make it one beautiful and successful adventure.

1 As we write down goals for 2016 in our shiny new planners, let us leave room for the unimaginable blessings that may come our way.  Let us plan for a little risk taking, for reaching out to others, for sharing our journeys in the hopes that they will help someone and most importantly, let us plan to give out love in any way we can.  In supporting one another we strengthen our core, we build connections that go beyond even our own understanding and we find other human beings that share our passions and our desire to make this life the best it can be.

Let us remember that success does not signify the absence of failure.  There will be challenges, changes and unexpected circumstances and it will be ok to fall down, to cry and to wonder why…remember, you are human.  Give yourself room to be where you need to be.  As a new year begins, there is always a sense of hope, but as the humans that we are, we also put an immense amount of pressure on ourselves…again I say to you, give yourself room to be where you need to be.

img_8679x Let us be present and focus on our own path.  Our journeys are all different, so let us not compare our beginning to someone else’s middle.  Along the way, you will find that the universe will surround you with light and nudge you along in the right direction…and it may not be anything like you imagined, but it may be just as perfect.

6 I wish you a year full of love and grace.  May it be nothing like you expected…but rather more magical than you ever thought possible.  Thank you for your support as I go on my journey, you mean so much.  With love, Eva.

Well, look who is here…February has arrived along with all things Valentine.  Sometimes I wonder if I am always fully awake because I feel like I blink and all of a sudden it is a new month.  Do you ever feel that way?  It wasn’t that long ago that the world was eagerly awaiting the arrival of 2015 and making lists of goals and dreams to be accomplished in the new year.

Last year is a little blurry for me now as I experienced some major life changes.  There was a lot of good, but there were also a lot of challenges that tested my endurance, faith and strength.  I learned that change is constant, and for someone who craves stability and calm, that is not always comforting.

But I learned that sometimes change knocks on your door to wake you up to something new, to give you the opportunity to revisit forgotten dreams, re-evaluate beliefs and decide for yourself whether you want to take a chance or stand still.  Move forward and grow or stay where you are and slowly fade.  It is not always easy to accept change, especially when it challenges you, but once the heart opens and a little light starts to peek through, then there is no stopping it!

Anyway friends, that’s a little on me and because of what seems like a million different things, I took a bit of a break from the blog, and I missed it so!  But here I am today and I hope that you have not forgotten me.  I look forward to sharing beauty again, sharing the talent of inspiring souls I may encounter along the way and sharing with you a little more of my personal journey through this sometimes messy, but always beautiful life.

I hope that 2015 has been treating you well.  May all your hopes and wishes be well on their way to becoming realities and may you always find something in your day to be grateful for.

Lots of love, in the month of love! XO

I recently came across the wonderful work of artist Janet Hill and I was immediately drawn into a world full of whimsy, color and luxuriously relaxing settings and adventures.

Janet Hill

brownstones-lgo-1024x893 I have always loved this type of art…the kind that truly captures the magic that is found in the simplest of moments, instilling a sense of nostalgia and displaying timeless beauty and classic elegance.

After spending some time going through Janet’s blog (I may be a bit obsessed!) and falling in love with each piece, I contacted her and asked if I could share her work here with you.  I was so happy when she agreed, and even took some time to answer a few questions so we could learn about her process.  Without further ado, a little Q & A with Janet Hill.

YOUR CHARACTERS AND SETTINGS ARE SO MAGICAL AND WHIMSICAL.  DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE PLACE OR RITUAL TO GET INSPIRED BEFORE STARTING TO PAINT?

JANET: Most of my ideas come to me when I least expect it.  Often I will watch a movie or see something inspiring but the actual idea doesn’t surface for several days or even months.  Then all of a sudden an idea comes to me almost complete.  My husband jokingly calls me an ‘idiot savant’ as I am often unaware of the initial inspiration while it gestates in my subconscious.

IF YOU COULD USE ONE WORD TO DESCRIBE THE FEELING YOU WANT TO CONVEY WITH YOUR ART, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

JANET:  Curious.

BEING A DOG OWNER MYSELF, YOUR SERIES “MISS MOON WAS A DOG GOVERNESS” COMPLETELY CAPTURED MY HEART.  I LOVE THAT EACH PAINTING COMES WITH AN IMPORTANT LIFE LESSON.  WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS ONE OF THE BIGGEST LESSONS YOU HAVE LEARNED FROM YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH YOUR DOG FINNEGAN AND YOUR CAT GIPSY?

JANET: I think the biggest lesson that I have learned from my pets is not to take things too seriously.   They are completely ridiculous creatures and they bring a lot of humor into my daily life.

IS THERE A PARTICULAR PAINTING (OR SERIES) THAT YOU FEEL PARTICULARLY CONNECTED TO?

JANET:  The one that I’m working on now.  It is a short story told through paintings.  It’s mysterious and magical and I can’t wait to release some of the pieces in the series.

Bright blooms, spaces full of charm and sparkle, delicious treats and high-class soirees are just some of the settings you will find amongst Hill’s oil paintings  Please be sure to check out her Etsy Shop to see more of her work and join her on Facebook and Twitter as she shares regular updates.
